It is my pleasure to provide these helpful facts on the valuation process as well as to explain the various benefits available through the exemptions and assessment level freezes provided by Louisiana law. You will also find information on how to review and/or appeal your property valuation should you feel the need to do so. The City’s Treasury Department made the following announcement on January 31, 2017:
In the December 2016 election, voters in Orleans Parish approved property tax millages for fire protection and drainage. On January 26, 2017, the New Orleans City Council adopted the millage ordinances.
The City will send out a supplemental property tax bill to residents in the spring of 2017. Click on the following link for more information:
We remind the public that:
(a)our office does not issue tax bills or collect payment of taxes and such inquiries should
be directed to the City’s Treasury Department; and
(b) all owners of taxable property are required to pay.
